Cheney United Methodist Church

For Cheney United Methodist Church, Fusion Architecture helped provide an over arching vision & direction for a series of projects, starting with the most pressing issue: dry rot in a prominent window wall. The structural integrity was seriously compromised,  and the windows were failing. The redesign was complicated by the unique irregular geometry of the roof- each side was a different slope & length. As such, the final solution highlights balance over symmetry. It still provides plenty of light where the interior benefits from it, while still reducing the overall amount of glazing, to reduce overall cost & risk of future issues.

Other phases and areas of work include redesigning the main entrance to eliminate an uneven trip hazard on the steps, highlight the entrance to make it more inviting, and add a vestibule to keep the interior climate more steady. Additionally, their fellowship hall was expanded, and the sanctuary lighting was studied & refined to give more even and functional lighting to the whole space.
